Occupational therapy is used when someone is having difficulty with everyday tasks.
The occupational therapist will assess whether there is something specific that should be addressed such as:
Handwriting
Use of cutlery
Getting dressed
Navigating to other places
Dressing or grooming and will help to find solutions for these difficulties.
For children, an occupational therapist may also engage in activities aimed at improving general motor skills.
As children grow, the tasks that they find difficulty with will change and occupational therapists are able to help with these transitions.
In Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Occupational Therapy Association keeps a list of registered occupational therapists and their contact details that can be found at HKOTA.
